1. Scope and provider

These terms apply to your use of Snugnight at snugnight.com and related domains. The provider is PioneerSight LLC, represented by Alexander Daamen, 111 Town Square Pl Ste 1238, PMB 720325, Jersey City, NJ 07310, United States. Email: ad@pioneersight.com. By using the site you accept these terms.

2. What Snugnight is

Snugnight is a free information service. It estimates how warm, damp and windy a night outside will be and suggests gear that fits. It also offers campground pages with typical nights by month. You do not need an account. Using the site does not create a right to particular features or results.

3. Data sources and rights

  • Weather data: Open-Meteo.com, licensed CC BY 4.0.
  • Map and campground data: OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed ODbL.
  • US campground data: Recreation.gov (public US government data).

Snugnight's text, design, drawings and software are protected by copyright and belong to PioneerSight LLC. You are welcome to share links to pages and results.

4. Acceptable use

You may use Snugnight for your own planning. You may not:

  • query, copy or extract the site or its interfaces automatically in bulk (scraping),
  • resell results or data commercially or present them as your own service,
  • disrupt the service, get around security measures or attack the site.

5. Forecasts are estimates

  • Weather forecasts are uncertain, especially several days ahead.
  • The models work on a grid of a few kilometers. Valleys, lakes, forest edges and mountains have their own microclimate, which the forecast does not capture exactly.
  • Nights more than 14 days away show no forecast but a typical cold night taken from recent years of weather history.
  • Advice on sleeping bags, pads, shelters and how warm you sleep is a rule of thumb. Brands rate gear differently, and people feel cold differently.
  • Campground data can be outdated or incomplete, for example after closures, seasonal openings or rule changes.

We therefore make no promise that forecasts, recommendations or data are accurate, complete or up to date. The service is provided free of charge and as is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

6. You decide

Snugnight is a planning aid, not a safety tool. Whether, where and how you sleep outside is your own decision and your own responsibility. Before and during your trip, check official weather warnings (for example the National Weather Service or the German Weather Service), local rules (such as on camping, sleeping in vehicles and fires) and the actual conditions. Bring spare warmth and turn back when in doubt. Never use a flame heater or run an engine inside a tent, car or van.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of this free service, in particular from a forecast, recommendation or campground detail that turns out to be wrong, or from interruptions or errors of the site.

This does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or under product liability law. These rules also protect the provider's representatives and staff.

8. Links, shops and commissions

Some links to shops (for example Amazon or REI) are affiliate links. If you buy something through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The links lead to search results that match the recommended temperature or insulation. We have not tested individual products and we are not the seller. The operators of other websites are responsible for their content, offers, prices and privacy practices.

9. Availability and changes

We may change, limit or discontinue Snugnight at any time, and there is no right to availability. We may update these terms; the version published here applies.

10. Governing law

German law applies. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules of the country where you normally live.

11. Final provisions

If any provision of these terms is invalid, the remaining provisions stay in effect, and the statutory rule takes the place of the invalid one.
